Watermiser manufacture a range of Glass Reinforced Plastic
closed circuit cooling towers that incorporate copper cooling
coils to provide a completely non-corroding package. However,
where the cooling duty allows (i.e. on all but applications
that require a close approach to the ambient wet bulb
temperature) Watermiser would offer a package comprising of
an open evaporative cooling tower with a matched plate heat
exchanger.
The tower plus heat exchanger package has many distinct
advantages over a closed circuit cooling tower, i.e.
- The GRP cooling tower with a stainless steel plate heat exchanger and pipework provides a non-corroding package.
- Closed circuit cooling tower coils are difficult to maintain and clean. Heat exchangers can be opened to allow cleaning of the complete heat transfer area.
- Closed circuit towers have virtually no potential for uprating, heat exchangers can easily have plates added.
- Closed circuit coils are prone to frost damage.
- Heat exchanger can be positioned remote from the cooling tower if required.
Each package normally comprises of :
- a GRP open evaporative cooling tower.
- a heat exchanger with grade 304 or 316 stainless steel plates.
- a tower to heat exchanger pump.
- pipework between the tower and heat exchanger manufactured in grade 304 stainless steel.
- a common structural steel mounting frame, hot dipped galvanised after manufacture.
